Studies on Metagonimus Yokogawai, Katsurada, 1913 Infected inPlecoglossus altives Collected in Chezu Province (Quelpart Island)

Abstract
|
|
|
The parasitological investigations on fresh-water fish, Plecoglossus altivelis collected at 3 rives of south and north area of Chezu Province were carried out in early August of 1963. And the following results were obtained.
1) Metacercariae of Metagonimus spp. were found in 56 fishes(90.3%) out of 62 examined.
2) From the aminal inoculasion, average number of detected adult worms was 280 per fish.
3) The worms were identified as Metahonimus yokogawai Kataurada, 1913 by morphological studies on the adults and eggs.
4) In experimental animals, the most worms were parasitized at lower portion of small intestine, and the remainder were found at middle and above portions.
5) The histopathological finding of the parasitized site of this worms was also observed.
